The practice
Rehab Carolina is a physical therapy and rehabilitation practice with a 30-year reputation in the Charleston area of South Carolina. Patients are seen at four locations: West Ashley, North Charleston, Mount Pleasant and Moncks Corner.
Its care covers the conditions people most often search for: shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle problems, post-surgical rehabilitation, dry needling, orthotics and vertigo. That is a lot of expertise to explain, spread across four clinics, and the website had to make it easy for a patient to find the right treatment at the nearest location.
The brief was simple to say and harder to deliver: a rehab center website that matched the standard of care patients already got in the clinic.
The problem: an outdated site that was hard to use on a phone
The old website worked against the practice in five ways:
- Outdated design. It looked older than the practice’s 30-year reputation.
- Not mobile-friendly. Many patients look for a physical therapist on their phone, often in pain or just after seeing a surgeon. The old site was hard to read and hard to act on at that size.
- Poor navigation. Services, locations and booking were difficult to find.
- No SEO. Pages were not built around the treatments and towns patients actually search for, so the practice was easy to miss on Google.
- No clear call to action. A visitor ready to book had no obvious next step.
For a multi-location practice those problems compound. Every missed search is a patient who books with someone else, and every confusing page is a phone call the front desk has to handle.
What we built: location pages, condition content, online scheduling and forms
We rebuilt the site mobile-first on WordPress as part of our web design and development service. The structure follows how patients decide: what is wrong, where is the nearest clinic, and how do I book.
Physical therapy website design around four clinics
Each of the four locations has its own page, so a search for rehab in West Ashley or Mount Pleasant can land on a page about that clinic rather than a generic contact page. A “Find a Rehab Carolina Location Near You” prompt keeps the choice one tap away from anywhere on the site.
Condition content patients search for
We wrote and structured pages for shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle care, dry needling, orthotics, vertigo and post-surgical rehab. Each page is written to answer what a patient wants to know before booking, in plain language.
Booking, forms and billing online
We added online scheduling, intake forms, a bill-pay portal and insurance verification, to move routine admin out of the phone queue. “Book an Appointment” is the primary call to action on every page.
Physical therapy SEO from day one
Pages target the local terms that bring patients in, such as “rehabilitation center in South Carolina”, “post-surgical rehab in Charleston SC” and “occupational therapy in Summerville SC”. We combined that on-page work with speed improvements as part of our SEO service, so the site loads quickly on a phone signal as well as office Wi-Fi.

Figures confirmed by the client for publication, October 2026.
Rehab Carolina saw two headline results after the rebuild: organic website traffic up 185% within six months of launch, and online appointment requests up 240%. Alongside the numbers, the practice saw higher Google rankings and more appointments booked through the website.
Both figures are confirmed by Rehab Carolina. They came from fixing the basics properly: a site that works on a phone, a page for every clinic and condition, and a booking button that is never more than a tap away.
Still running: ongoing WordPress management
Rehab Carolina is an ongoing client: MarQira still manages the website today. Our WordPress management service covers core, plugin and theme updates, security monitoring, backups and restores, and speed, and it runs on WPCentrify, the WordPress management platform we built ourselves.
That matters for a healthcare practice. A booking form that silently breaks after a plugin update costs appointments, and nobody at the front desk has time to check. Keeping the site after launch is how the results above last.
